On February 17, 2006, we started this wonderful Cook & James journey, dedicated to being the law firm we’d dreamed up in our minds. With convenience at the forefront, we’ve closed in kitchens and cul de sacs, front porches and even on the bed of a pickup truck. Over our 16 years, we’ve expanded from our home state of Georgia to close in Connecticut, New York and South Carolina and we’ve added attorneys, paralegals, and a whole team of behind-the-scenes-magic that has made Cook & James what it is today.

Heather and I feel so thankful for our Cook & James work family as well as our own families that support us so tirelessly, and we eagerly anticipate the future of Cook & James. Cook & James Celebrates 16 Year Anniversary

Atlanta-area real estate law firm, known as the pioneer of “at home” closings, marks 16 years of serving real estate closing needs in Georgia, Connecticut, New York and South Carolina

ROSWELL, Ga. (February 17, 2022) – Cook & James, the Atlanta-area based real estate law firm known for pioneering at-home closings since its inception in 2006, celebrates 16 successful years today, February 17, 2022. Recent milestones include adding five attorneys in 2021 to close in Georgia, New York and South Carolina; adding three attorneys in 2020 and launching Curbside Closings, a pioneering response to pandemic shutdowns; and opening a satellite office north of Atlanta and adding a South Carolina-based attorney in 2019.

“We could not be more proud that our firm has made another trip around the sun,” said Heather James, attorney and co-founding partner at Cook & James. “Kara and I started this company 16 years ago and with perseverance, grit and determination, we made it through the 2008 recession and more recently the global pandemic, maintaining our trademark brand of closings at the very highest level of professionalism with plentiful personality and fun thrown in.”

Cook & James is known and respected for adhering to the highest standard of customer service as well as harnessing its Canons to guide the firm’s integrity. It is sayings like “practice what you preach,” “there’s more than one way to skin a cat,” “swing for the fences,” and “come hell or high water” that give Cook & James its North Star and provide the “secret sauce” that keeps clients coming back again and again.

“When it was just the two of us at the beginning, Heather and I made a pact that no matter how much we grew, we would never forfeit our industrious roots,” said Kara Cook, attorney and co-founding partner at Cook & James. “Today, 16 years later, we can say that, despite our exponential growth, we have maintained our signature integrity with exemplary customer service. We are approachable, caring, competent and efficient.”

In addition to attorneys and paralegals and a full complement of support staff to execute flawless closing transactions, the Cook & James marketing team coordinates the firm’s presence at numerous real estate trade and community events. In the next few months, Cook & James will have a presence at the Atlanta REALTORS® Association (ARA) Top Producer Gala in March and the RPAC Chili Cookoff in the fall. With the Cherokee Association of REALTORS®

(CAOR), C&J will sponsor the membership breakfast in March and will attend the Top Achievers Banquet in April and the Golf Tournament in May. Cook & James also belongs and is active in NAMAR, Georgia Association of REALTORS®, the 400 North Association of REALTORS®, the Cobb Association of REALTORS®, and Atlanta Communities Woodstock.

Over the years, the firm has also given back to the community with roadside clean up events, fundraisers, and local school support. The firm collected hundreds of toys during the most recent holiday season in support of North Fulton Community Charities and participates annually in Thanksgiving food collections through that organization as well. Through a previous initiative, Acts of Kindness, C&J has supported organizations for animals, the homeless, education, cancer and many other worthy non-profits over the years..

Continuing education is a critical part of real estate and the Cook & James classes, many of them free, have included License Law, Real Estate Ethics, Ready to Close, Social Media Marketing, YouTube for Realtors and more. Upcoming CE classes are only open to members of individual associations, but future offerings will be made available to the real estate general public.
